Northampton General Hospital DC ahead of schedule

The Northampton General Hospital secure data centre build is going according to plan. The modular room has now been erected ahead of schedule which is quite an achievement given the horrendous weather we have had in the past few months. The modular room is now fully waterproof and so the infrastructure within the room  will DIGITAL CAMERA DIGITAL CAMERAnow start to take place.

The Voice

It was all about Data Centres again today, but this time we were talking about them instead of building them. Some of you will be familiar with the short video clip that we have on the website – a detailed data centre build programme in pictures. The video takes you through all elements of a data centre build from concrete foundations, through to raised access flooring, airconditioning, power and security.

Today we recorded the script to go with that video down at Big Fish Media in Woking. Our voice artist Ed was so good you would have thought he had been in the data centre business before. Within a couple of hours, we had the full voice recording in the bag.recording

Keep an eye out for the new video online!

Brick by brick

The DC room at Northampton hospital is being built on a slope, for this reason, the engineering brick wall had to be built up to ensure a precise levelling of the concrete base was achieved. This also adds greater strength to the concrete base. Service entry ducts were positioned as required to bring services into the room via the concrete base.

In addition, radon was installed to remove any potential gases. Images here also show the ring beam that has been installed for added strength within the cavity of the two walls. Onwards and upwards!

Northampton Hospital next phase

The Christmas holidays have not slowed down the Secure IT Environments team over in Northampton! The next phase of the new data centre build is well under way. Due to the restrictions in the car park we hired a concrete pump vehicle to ensure the minimum disruption to the hospital’s car parking area. Then a steel mesh grid and ring beam was installed to provide maximum strength to the building base. Full steam ahead!Northampton-20131218-00302 Northampton-20131218-00303
